A Charleston man pleaded guilty in federal court in Charleston to possession with intent to distribute 50 or more grams of methamphetamine, according to a news release from the U.S. attorney's office.
Brian Keith Dunnigan, 46, admitted that more than 100 grams of methamphetamine, over 50 grams of heroin and cash recovered at his residence were his when officers with the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team found the items there on April 8, according to U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin. Dunnigan said that he had been dealing heroin and methamphetamine he received from a source in Ohio for about two months.
He also admitted that on May 6, he possessed a loaded .38 caliber handgun. Dunnigan was prohibited from possessing any firearm because he had been convicted of two felonies and had not had his rights to possess a firearm restored. Charleston Police Department officers found him with the gun when they were executing a search warrant.
Dunnigan faces up to 40 years in federal prison when he is sentenced on Dec. 8.
