A fire early Tuesday morning destroyed much of a Nitro business and damaged another nearby business, according to officials.
The fire was reported at about 1 a.m. Tuesday at 601 Main Ave. in Nitro. The scene was cleared by about 5 a.m., according to a Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatcher.
Capt. A.J. Shinn with the Nitro Fire Department said that much of Statewide Service, which provides heating and cooling repair services to other businesses, was destroyed, and Dave's Barber Shop, formerly Boggs Barber Shop, suffered heat, smoke and water damage.
Shinn estimated the fire took a couple hours to extinguish.
In Statewide Service, the billing area and the parts department were destroyed and the ceiling collapsed, according to Shinn.
No one was injured.
The state fire marshal's office was investigating. Shinn said investigators believe the fire originated in a furnace.
