Firefighters pulled a body from the Kanawha River by Haddad Riverfront Park in Charleston at about 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Lt. Steve Cooper, Charleston police chief of detectives, said the man was homeless and had lived at the Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center. Police were not releasing the man's name until family had been notified.

Cooper said they have no reason to suspect suicide and do not suspect foul play.

Firefighters pulled the man's body onto a dock by the water.

Charleston police are investigating.

Charleston police have responded to the deaths of at least three homeless people since the beginning of the year. One man fell and struck his head, while the death of another man was attributed to alcoholism, according to police. The body of 53-year-old James Cook was found severely decomposed in a vacant home at 105 Maryland Ave. in May.
