A 17-year-old girl died in a wreck near Ripley on Monday morning.
Brooklyn Rogers, of Sandyville, was traveling west on W.Va. 62 about two miles from Ripley when, for reasons unknown, she crossed the center line into the path of a concrete truck, said Jackson County Sheriff Tony Boggs. She died instantly.
She was on her way to work on a school project at an animal shelter, Boggs said.
The wreck happened at about 8 a.m. W.Va. 62 was shut down for several hours.
