Staff reports

A 21-year-old South Charleston man was indicted for a second time last week on a charge of murder.

De'Anthony Akeem Thornabar shot Dylan Bailey at Oakes Field in September 2016, police wrote in a criminal complaint last year, after the two men met to fight over a woman.

According to the complaint, Bailey was beating Thornabar in the fight when Thornabar told him to stop. Thornabar got a gun from a nearby juvenile and shot Bailey in the back as Bailey was walking away, police said. Bailey died several hours later.

Thornabar was originally indicted on the murder charge in March. It was not immediately clear why he was re-indicted.

A South Charleston teenager -- 17-year-old Robert Earl Riffin -- was also indicted on a charge of murder. Because of his age, Riffin would not have been included in the public indictment list unless prosecutors had decided to try him as an adult. No details were available about Riffin's case over the holiday weekend.

In all, a Kanawha County grand jury returned indictments against 83 people Friday.

When a person is indicted, it means a grand jury has found enough evidence to warrant a criminal trial. Anyone who is indicted is still presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Those indicted are listed below with the charges against them; they are to report to a circuit judge at the date and time listed.
