A Kanawha County man was arrested after taking off in an ambulance in Charleston on Wednesday evening.
Brian Thompson, 34, is charged with joyriding and driving on a license revoked for DUI, said Sgt. J.A. Hunt of the Charleston Police Department.
Hunt said Thompson left Saint Francis Hospital, drove the ambulance around the block, then returned the ambulance to where he found it and took off.
He repeatedly said "I'm sorry, I was just playing when I took the ambulance," Hunt said.
The incident was reported at about 8:30 p.m. to Kanawha County Metro 911.
Bail was set at $3,000 cash only, according to the regional jails website.
Charleston Police Department is investigating.
