A Charleston man allegedly set a small dog on fire Thursday night.
Teddy Estep, 22, scorched the 20-pound dog and forced it to suffer extreme pain, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.
Though he denied the act, Estep had burned hair on his wrists when State Police arrested him, the complaint states.
A witness saw Estep - dog in hand - leave his home on Jonquil Drive, according to the complaint. The dog had severe burns when the witness saw it again. Its condition Friday was unknown.
Troopers arrested Estep on a charge of animal cruelty. He remained at South Central Regional Jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond on Friday morning.
