CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - A Clarksburg man has been arrested after police say his stepfather found the man's 11-month-old baby alone in a locked car at Walmart.

The Exponent Telegram reports 35-year-old Jason Jeremy Cole was charged with felony child neglect Thursday.

Police say Cole's stepfather says Cole showed up at his home around 4:30 a.m. without the child. Concerned for the child's safety, police say Cole's stepfather went to the retail store after remembering Cole had mentioned it, where he discovered the child inside the car.

Clarksburg Patrol Officer Mark Waggamon says Cole told officers that he went to Walmart, but couldn't remember anything after that.

Prosecutor Rachel Romano says the child is OK and with relatives.

Cole remains in jail on bond. It wasn't clear if he has an attorney.
