CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - A National Energy Technology Laboratory subcontractor has been sentenced to a year on probation for double billing the lab for services and expenses.

Fifty-four-year-old David Phillip Haberman of Boynton Beach, Florida, will spend the first three months on home detention.

The Exponent Telegram reports that U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley sentenced Haberman on Tuesday. Keeley also ordered him to pay more than $84,000 in restitution.

Haberman had pleaded guilty earlier this year to conspiracy to purloin government funds.

Special Agent Sylvia Bergstedt of the Department of Energy's Office of Inspector General said the duplicate billing included lodging, meals and travel expenses.
