A West Virginia Division of Highways worker was killed Tuesday when a DOH truck moving at a slow speed ran over her.
The Brooke County Sheriff's Department identified the victim as 70-year-old Susan Custer of Wellsburg.
Officers who responded to the scene believe she fell, Brooke County Chief Deputy John Eckersberg said.
The incident happened at about noon Tuesday on Willow Springs Drive, outside Wellsburg.
Eckersberg said the woman's body was sent to Morgantown for an autopsy. He said the results might reveal if a medical condition prompted the fall, although he said it's also possible she just lost her balance. Foul play is not suspected.
Deputies are interviewing a few DOH workers who saw the incident, as well as one other witness.
