A homeowner in Belle shot and killed a man who he said broke into his house early Saturday morning, according to police. The incident happened around 4:25 a.m. in the 2000 block of East Dupont Avenue, near Witcher Creek and Belle, according to a release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.
The man called 911 to say he had shot a burglar, according to the release. Corporal J. Lester of the sheriff's office arrived at the scene to find the homeowner, who has not been identified, waiting on police. One man was found shot in the bedroom of the home. The Kanawha County Ambulance Authority responded, but the man was declared dead at the scene, according to the release.
The sheriff's office is investigating and said more details may be released later Saturday.
