Huntington man pleads guilty to heroin charge

A Huntington man has pleaded guilty to a federal drug charge after he was caught with 53 grams and another 20 bags of heroin.

Robert Womble II, 26, entered a guilty plea in U.S. District Court in Huntington for possession with intent to sell, for which he could face up to 20 years in prison.

According to a news release from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin's office, the case is part of an ongoing effort to combat the sale and misuse of prescription drugs and heroin in the region.

Womble was arrested by Huntington police after fleeing an officer and attempting to discard around 53 grams of heroin. According to the release, Womble admitted that he intended to sell all of the heroin found in his possession.
