The Kanawha County Sheriff's Office arrested seven DUI suspects overnight, including one man who allegedly had a stolen vehicle and was driving under the influence.
The sheriff's office also noted in a news release that DUI patrols will continue this week, including on New Year's Eve.
Randall Wilson Asbury, 57, of Sissonville, was arrested after a traffic stop in the 7700 block of Sissonville Drive at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police said they found a Xanax pill and a syringe inside of the stolen vehicle, and noticed the smell of alcohol. Tests also showed Asbury was intoxicated, according to the release.
Of the seven DUI arrests made overnight, two involved wrecks.
"As New Year's Eve approaches, we encourage everyone to make plans for a safe holiday," Sgt. Brian Humphreys wrote in the release. "If you go out to drink, have a designated driver or plan for a safe ride home. Do not drink and drive risking your life and the lives of others."
