Police have arrested the son of a elderly Summers County couple who were found today, shot to death in their home.

John Gadd, 45, was charged with two counts of concealment of bodies and two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to Summers County Sheriff Garry Wheeler.

The 79-year-old man and 73-year-old woman were found today inside a bedroom in the home on W.Va. 12 in the rural Forest Hill area, about six miles from Hinton, according to Summers County Sheriff Garry Wheeler. They were apparently shot about three days ago, Wheeler said.

Wheeler said Tuesday afternoon that more charges may come later once police learn more.

A state medical examiner's report may also be needed, he said.

Gadd stayed in his parents' residence on a part-time basis, according to Wheeler.

"He's given us his version of it," Wheeler said. He would not describe that version of events.

"It's really, really early in this thing," the sheriff said. "We're trying to be careful about what we put out here at the moment."

Two guns were recovered. The guns were already in the house prior to the shootings, Wheeler said.

Gadd was arraigned on Tuesday afternoon in Summers County Magistrate Court, where a magistrate set a $12,000 cash-only bail.
