Charleston Area Medical Center's Memorial Hospital was placed on lockdown Monday after a person reported that a man may be coming to the hospital to shoot an employee, according to police.
Charleston police still were investigating Monday afternoon, according to Charleston police Lt. Steve Cooper.
"We are sorting through the information," Cooper said. "We are not certain that a crime was committed. We did respond appropriately in case a crime was committed... When we get all of the facts in and we get to the bottom of the incident, we will confer with the prosecuting attorney's office if necessary to see if charges are appropriate or if any laws were broken."
He said police believe the incident was "domestic-related."
