St. Albans police have arrested a man they believe robbed a local bar twice in two weeks.
Maurice Creel, 38, of Cross Lanes, was arrested and charged with robbery Thursday, according to a news release from the St. Albans police.
The first robbery took place Dec. 12 at Shirley's Bar on MacCorkle Avenue. The second robbery took place Wednesday.
Police said the suspect, Creel, handed the clerk a bag and demanded cash. Creel allegedly displayed pepper spray during the robbery, the release said. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Tips from anonymous callers led officers to Creel, who was arrested at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday at his home in Cross Lanes.
Creel is being held at South Central Regional Jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning in Kanawha Magistrate County Court.
