A Charleston man died after striking a utility pole with his SUV on Kanawha State Forest Drive near Smith Road in Davis Creek overnight.
Abraham Floyd, 37, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, according to a release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office. His vehicle rolled at least twice after striking the utility pole.
The crash was reported at about 1 a.m.
Floyd was driving a white 2000 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Police had been looking for the SUV prior to the crash, because another driver had reported the driver seemed to be intoxicated.
Floyd was not wearing his seatbelt, the release says.
No other people were in the vehicle, said a Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatcher.
