After hitting a pedestrian with a vehicle in Raleigh County, a nurse tried to save the woman, but she died of her injuries, according to the Raleigh County Sheriff's Office.
The woman was walking in the middle of Hinton Road in the area of the Pluto Road intersection at about 6:45 a.m. Thursday when she was struck, a news release says.
The nurse got out of the vehicle and began life-saving measures, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead upon arrival at Beckley ARH Hospital.
Police say they have determined through the investigation, including witness accounts, that the nurse was not at fault and do not plan to press charges, although they say they continue to investigate the accident. Neither person's name was released Thursday.
