A South Charleston man pleaded guilty to distribution of heroin in federal court on Wednesday.

Gavin Edwards, 32, admitted to selling heroin to a confidential informant with the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team, which investigated the case, on two separate occasions in December 2014.

According to a press release from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin's office, Edwards completed those drug deals behind his South Charleston apartment building on Kanawha Turnpike. Shortly after, detectives searched Edwards' home and found more than 250 grams of marijuana, more than 250 grams of crack and nearly $7,500 in cash, the release says.

He faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a $1 million fine when he is sentenced on March 16 in Charleston. Assistant U.S. Attorney Monica D. Coleman is in charge of the prosecution.
