FAIRMONT, W.Va. (AP) - A school in Fairmont was evacuated after officials found a bomb threat on a bathroom wall.

Marion County Sheriff Joe Carpenter tells the Times West Virginian deputies were notified of the bomb threat Thursday morning at East Fairmont High School. He says the threat was written on a bathroom wall stating that a bomb would go off Thursday.

Authorities searched the school but found nothing suspicious. Students and staff were eventually allowed to return to their classrooms.

Carpenter says the sheriff's office is investigating the matter.

The newspaper reports multiple threats have been reported in the area within the past month.
